Hygienist

You can now see a hygienist without seeing a dentist

Did you know that 80% of the British population suffers from some form of gum disease? As well as being a staggeringly high statistic, it’s also worrying as regular visits to a hygienist could treat the disease altogether. And thanks to recent changes within the dental industry, you no longer have to have a referral from your dentist to see a hygienist.

While it is your dentist’s job to ensure that your teeth are healthy, a hygienist will be able to scale and polish them for you which ultimately means you should have them for longer. A scale and polish is a routine, painless procedure that you are recommended to have to remove any plaque build-up and reduce your chances of gum disease.

No matter how well you clean your teeth at home, you may still be missing vital parts of your mouth which could lead to a build-up of plaque.

Hygienist

At Densmile Dental Care you’re in great hands when you come to see our fully qualified hygienist. Our Hygienist visits our practice regularly, offering their skill and expertise to all of our patients. The Hygienist is able to conduct advanced tooth and gum cleaning (scale and polish treatment) to remove any plaque and tartar, thoroughly examine your gums for signs of disease and advise you about how best to care for your teeth in between visits to see us.

Many think it’s inevitable that you will lose teeth as you age, but that is not necessarily the case. Amy can help to educate our patients about taking care of their mouths so that they can keep their teeth for the rest of their lives.

Dr Mulgund Owner and Dentist

Please note: It is in your best interests to visit the Hygienist regularly. Not only can you look forward to fresh breath and that ‘just cleaned’ feeling, but gum disease has been linked to the development of a number of harmful health conditions.

Our promise to you

At Densmile Dental Care we guarantee all of our patients that they will experience no pain during their procedures. As well as administering numbing gel before any injections, Dr Mulgund asks all patients to raise their hand if they are experiencing any discomfort at any point. He will then stop what he is doing and won’t start again until you are completely happy. Where necessary, he will provide additional local anaesthetic. However, if you are still experiencing discomfort after all endeavours, the treatment can be suspended and re-arranged if needs be.
